YOUR CHARACTER
NAME: Goergia Carolyn Mason
JOURNAL: [personal profile] comefollowmedown
FANDOM: The Newsflesh Trilogy
AGE: 22
APPEARANCE: A relatively short young woman with short, dark hair and a medium skin tone. She is often in slacks and a button down shirt, her appearance seeming quite professional. Unless she happens to be wearing her cornflower blue contacts, she'll be in sunglasses, used to shield her eyes from harmful light, as she has a vision problem.
CANON POINT: At the end of Feed.
MEMORY LOSS:Yes, I would like her to only have scattered memories of her life, though she does remember how she died, someone shooting her in the head. I want her to have the vague sense that it was done out of love but not understanding why. She'll be fuzzy and out of sorts, knowing only a fraction of her life but having the driving need to find out more about that world, and eventually the one she's landed in.

WIKI/HISTORY: Georgia comes from a world where zombies have risen. She and her brother Shaun were orphaned in the Rising and afterwards, were adopted by the Masons, a family who had lost their young son.

Fo9r a very long time, Georgia didn't realize that her parents were both using them for ratings, to stay in the public eye. Although there may have been genuine love there, it really didn't matter as much as the fact that the Masons needed to stay in the spotlight, finding it to be the easiest way to cope with the lost of their actual child.

As this was happening, Georgia found herself becoming intrigued with journalism. She dragged Shaun for the ride and eventually, they started their own news site After The End Times.

They meet Buffy, the future fictional and tech girl, and the three of them team up to be a relatively popular website in the bay area of California.

But all of them have stronger ambitions than that and so they go after the biggest job they could manage: the Presidential election.

They manage to get it, which leaves all of them glowing. Unfortunately,, they had no idea that it would be a long string of tragedies, betrayal and blood.

There are attacks on several places including one of the places the candidate they were following was speaking at and his wife's home, and slowly, the group, with a new member from one of the other candidates, they learn that it's actually a plot set up by Ryman's running mate.

Unfortunately, they don't really get the proof until Buffy gets killed, revealing to them that she had been working for the man the entire time. She thought she was doing what was good for the country but then people started dying. In her last attempt to make it right, she tells Georgia and Shaun what's been going on and gives all the information she can provide so that the Masons and Rick can take him down.

They head back to the convoy intending to get in contact with Ryman but on the way to the trailer, Georgia gets shot with a needle full o9f the zombie virus.

She manages to stumble into the van that their equipment in housed in and types out one last report, telling the world what happened and attaching the information that Buffy left them to the document.

She keeps writing until she can't anymore, until she's typing gibberish and then, as she requested, her brother shoots her in the back of the head.

PERSONALITY:Georgia is one of nature's burn leaders as well as a born journalist. She's bright, cynical and determine dot find the truth. She manages people well, though it is in her own strange way, and she is quick to determine faults and weaknesses as well as good points.

She is strong, proud and damn competent. She knows what she's doing and how to do it the best and most efficient way possible, occasionally manipulating others into doing what she needs, although she tries to avoid lying to them.

She holds people at arms length most of the time, or so it seems. Shaun is the only person you may perceive her actually liking, although she has friends and people she cares about. She just also seems to have a working relationship that matters just as much (if not more than) her outside relationships with them.

Shaun is her weakness, he is her everything. With how she grew up, her parents exploiting the two of them for ratings and such, she grew to depend on him and only him. he is everything she can depend on and he is the one person who knows her inside and out.

Up until the very end, it was assumed that he would die before her and, although she never said it to anyone, she knew she wouldn't last long after he died.

She has a wry, sarcastic sense of humor that doesn't often show itself, though it will on occasion. Beyond that, she tries to maintain an outer shell of hard edged, tear you to pieces attitude, someone who will not hesitate to break you down and show the world your insides, if that's what you deserve.

As was stated above, she is a natural journalist.

There is no gooey center to Georgia, she is not sappy in the center or any of that. That's not to say she's utterly hard and cold either, it's just that, the was she expresses affection, complimenting someone on what a good job they've done rather than anything else, is her own way of being kind and affectionate. You may have to get to know her to realize that what you have with Georgia is a friendship but it will happen eventually.
POWERS: None, Georgia is human.

RP SAMPLE:Georgia spots the box on her way home. She’s on her bike and Shaun is in the van with Buffy already having been dropped off for the day.

She slows down, driving a circle around the box once before killing the engine and getting off to examine it.

"What the hell," she mutters, hearing the hum of technology coming from within. While she's not completely dense, she also hasn't got the faintest idea of what it could be.

One hand reaches out, brushing the top of the box,. "What is this?" She looks for any tell tale signs or really anything at all that she could work with, but nothing catches her eye.

Eventually, she winds up looking to Shaun. "Should we open it?"

She doesn't doubt that he's going to say yes, knowing him, but she can't help but ask. Even if she is terribly curious herself.

ANYTHING ELSE?: Nope!

YOUR CHARACTER
NAME: Phoenix Wright
JOURNAL: [personal profile] hobophoenix
FANDOM: Ace Attorney.
AGE: 33

APPEARANCE:
Have a picture! Source: Here

Phoenix is 5'9", black haired and brown eyed. He's got a slightly tan complexion, and has very distinctive zig-zag shaped eyebrows, that are generally at least partially covered by his hat. Speaking of his hat, beneath it, he keeps his hair spiked back as he did in his lawyer days, though the spikes are generally pretty messed up, and sometimes a bit limp due to being stuffed beneath his beanie all the time.

As a general rule, he'll be wearing the most comfortable thing that he's got access to, which usually consists of sweat pants, a well-worn hoodie with an undershirt, sandals (sometimes with socks, depending on the weather), and of course, his trademark teal beanie. Around his neck hangs a gold locket; inside, a picture of his adopted daughter, Trucy. Phoenix appears to be a pretty relaxed sort of fellow, and rarely does his posture or expression ever let on that something is amiss.

CANON POINT:
After the end of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney.

MEMORY LOSS:
Phoenix will be losing much of his memory, upon entering the game. He will still have a sense of who he is, and what he used to do, but his short-term memory (anything after his disbarment, and possibly a little bit before) will be gone. Eventually, it will probably come back to him, but in the beginning it will be missing.

WIKI: Link!

PERSONALITY:
Phoenix, as a disbarred lawyer, is generally pretty laid back and friendly, though he does have another side that isn’t quite so happy. He doesn’t show it to many, but it is there. There are quite a few factors in his past that contribute to this, though much of his cheerful, laid back attitude has to do with his adopted daughter, Trucy. She came into his life during his darkest hour, her father having been the last of Phoenix's clients. During the trial, he was slipped a piece of forged evidence by none other than Trucy, herself. He then innocently, and more than a bit recklessly presented this evidence, which, when challenged by the prosecution, led to his disbarment. Trucy's father disappeared from the courtroom, and she was left alone. From that day forward, she has called Phoenix "Daddy", and in the days after he lost his badge, she was the only thing that kept him going-- his reason for getting out of bed in the morning. In current times, she affects him in much the same way, though he often acts a bit careless as a parent, and gives her quite a lot of freedom for a fifteen year old-- allowing her to hold a job doing magic at the "Wonder Bar", as well as the freedom to act as an assistant to Apollo Justice, in addition to her schooling. Though he may be a bit too laid back in the parenting department, however, there's no doubt that he would do anything for Trucy, and that he places her happiness above his own. He's even learned to cook for her, though much of what he makes is pre-packaged/easy to put together, but if he didn't have her, he'd just as soon be satisfied getting by on PB&J every day.

As for friends, Phoenix has fallen out of touch with a lot of his older friends, though they’ll still occasionally exchange holiday cards or texts. That doesn’t mean that he wouldn’t be happy to see them again, though. Particularly Maya Fey- his ex-assistant, Miles Edgeworth- his best friend and former rival in the courtroom, and Larry Butz- one of his closest, childhood friends. Miles Edgeworth in particular, had a lot of bearing on Phoenix's past, and is actually the person who drove him to become a lawyer in the first place. In the beginning, Miles was quite averse to Phoenix having pursued such a career path at all, but in the end, the two of them finally began to work as a sort of truth-finding team, from opposite sides of the courtroom. This is, perhaps, the friend that he misses the most, though Maya would come in as a close second, being the younger sister of his former mentor, Mia Fey, and a close friend/assistant for the years during which he was an attorney.

Other important people in his life include Apollo Justice- his current (what he likes to call) apprentice, and (though he'd never admit this person's importance) Kristoph Gavin- his former friend, a former defense attorney, a murderer, and the reason behind his disbarment. Since the truth has come out about Kristoph Gavin, Phoenix has been able to let go of a lot of his bitterness as far as Kristoph is concerned, but there is still quite a bit of lingering bad blood between them. As well there should be, since much of the last seven years of Phoenix's life have been spent trying to put the man away and see him pay for his crimes.

As far as Phoenix's disbarment goes, he’s pretty quick to talk and joke about it. It still hurts him, but it’s not something that he’ll ever admit. At least not without some heavy-duty tooth-pulling. It was embarrassing, and (as is to be expected) all around, the worst thing that’s ever happened to him. He tries to be optimistic about it, as with everything else, knowing that Trucy came as a result of it, but he also know that he could have adopted her under different and possibly better circumstances. In reality, he still harbors quite a bit of bitterness and resentment over the whole ordeal, in that it's one of the most embarrassing things that can happen in that profession. Not to mention that along with his disbarment, came alcoholism. It was quite bad in the beginning, but recently it's been a bit better. He still drinks quite a bit, but he doesn't let it control his life. Still, it's a rare day that there aren't at least a couple of bottles of "grape juice" hanging around the agency that he calls home.

All in all, his easy-going attitude takes the forefront as a general rule, but he may grow distant, or attempt to change the subject if serious mention of his past is made. Being a lawyer was a great thing for him, and the period in which he practiced was, without a doubt, the best time of his life, but circumstances being what they are at present, he doesn't like to be reminded of what he's lost, or of how naive it was of him to have presented forged evidence after having been so successful in his profession. If the issue is pressed, he may get upset, or simply ignore the person who's doing the pressing all together, depending on who they happen to be. He doesn't like to be reminded of the person he used to be. He doesn't like to think about his happy-go-lucky college self, or his more serious professional self, though in time, that will most certainly change, now that the truth surrounding his disbarment has come to light.

POWERS:

Phoenix does not possess any real powers to speak of. He does have a small stone called a "magatama" that's been infused with spiritual power, that he's used previously in order to know when someone is hiding something. Seeing as how he's going to be in an entirely different world, however, and disconnected from the one who infused it with its power, it will most likely be rendered useless for such things, remaining only as a pretty little hunk of rock.

I'm also not actually sure if this counts as a power or not, but Phoenix tends to have a very high resistance to being injured. He's fallen off of a burning bridge into a river and come away with nothing more than a cold, and been hit by a car and come away with only an ankle injury. At one point, he was even hit in the head with a fire extinguisher, and though he temporarily lost his memory, he was still able to perform in court. Most likely, I will keep this as it is, as he just seems to be a very hearty, healthy guy, who's had a lot of luck in the past when it's come to taking physical damage.

RP SAMPLE:
I hope that posting a couple of posts from different threads I've done on tumblr will be alright. I can't link to them since I've deactivated my old account there. If not, please let me know and I'll be happy to write something new. Also, these posts were all made assuming that Phoenix was in a world that wasn't his own, and in a situation where doubles and alternate universes collided, which is why he sometimes refers to other worlds and alternate selves.

Sample 1:
It takes a few minutes for Phoenix to arrive at the office building, and when he does, he comes to a stop, just looking up at its darkened face for a moment. There’s no way that he’s in there, not a single light turned on inside, other than the security lights of the lobby which illuminate the empty security station. Shouldn’t there be a guard, though? Maybe he's on rounds…

It’s almost as an afterthought that he decides to try the parking garage, Pess still trotting along behind him when he spots the familiar car, parked in its usual spot. A feeling of dread begins to build within him as he approaches it, expecting the worst. But then… it’s empty. He tries the door. Locked.

Phoenix looks up then, the growing sense of urgency within him causing him to shake lightly as he catches sight of a sheet of plastic, hanging loosely over… The entrance to the old garage… It’s at the other end of the garage, but he takes off toward it, adrenaline the only thing keeping him from exhaustion at this point. He should wait for Apollo and he knows it, but he can’t help himself as he pushes the sheet aside, starting up through the levels of the place. It’s obvious that it hasn’t been used in quite some time, a thick layer of dirt over the normally black asphalt and then—

He’s caught off guard by the shadowy lump at the other side of the garage, and he slows his running to a hesitant walk, glancing around for any sign of danger. The street lights outside don’t cast much light into the space, its own interior lights having been shut off to conserve electricity. What light does filter in from outside is enough to cast a bit of light on the slick pool that’s forming around the lump as he gets closer though, and in a moment he’s dropping Pess’ leash and rushing forward, immediately recognizing Miles now that he’s beside him.

Sample 2:
"Godot. Like I said, we were talking."

God, that snarl… That wasn’t good. As much as he was trying to calm Apollo down, he only seemed to be making him angrier. Once more, he’s readying himself for something, anything big and explosive and… He doesn’t even stop to think that that might not be the way that Apollo works.

"What if you can’t? It’s a damn shame that you have to resort to that; that you have to be known for something like that—"

There’s so much more that he wants to say, but he cuts himself off as Apollo storms past into the kitchen to… Get a glass of water. Or at least that’s what it sounds like. Phoenix allows himself to relax a bit then, drawing in a few deep breaths and raising his free hand to run it through his hair. The kid had a temper, that was for sure, but even then, he hadn’t done anything to make Phoenix believe that he would actually harm him. Maybe that’s why, until the cool blade of that knife met his neck, he didn’t suspect a thing. Instantly, he goes still, his breath catching momentarily in his throat.

"H-heh, what're you doing, kid? Planning to shut me up for good? Just…wait a goddamn second, alright? You could at least tell a guy what he’s done, before you do him in."

(Jesus, Wright… This kid’s serious. What are you doing!?)

Sample 3:
"In that case, I hope so too. For me, it’s more of an ‘I’d like to go home’, but I know that things will be taken care of if I don’t. Do you have something waiting for you there?"

(Of course he does. It would only make sense since he and his Phoenix are here… Trucy…)

Just the thought of Trucy being alone, even in his own world was enough to make his stomach clench, but in their world? From what he’s heard, he can only hope that she has somewhere to go or someone to take care of her in their absence. It didn’t sound like the kind of place that a young girl should be alone. Not at all.

"The world that I come from?"

Honestly, he’s expecting more personal questions. Things that one might want to know about the background of a potential roommate, but… If this is what he really wants to know… Phoenix nods, leaning back on the sofa and raising his arms to clasp his hands together behind his head.

"To be honest, I don’t know much about this world yet, so I can’t answer that with any kind of certainty. It does appear to be the same, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t a little bit different. I’ll have to get back to you on whether they’re the same or not. As for what it’s like… Heh, outwardly it’s a lot like this one. The legal system is pretty sound, these days, but the agency still gets plenty of clients. Things have been improving a lot lately as far as the way that things are run…. That what you wanted to know?"

He cocks an eyebrow, turning his head to look down the sofa to where the younger man sits. He still looks none-too-relaxed, even if Phoenix can tell that he’s trying.

ANYTHING ELSE?: Nothing that I can think of! Thank you! Please let me know if you need anything further.

Re: REVISIONS

[personal profile] comefollowmedown 2012-07-26 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you for letting me do the revisions, I d hope this answers all of your questions.

The KA virus lies dormant in everyone. Once it was released into the ecosystem in 2014, we had no more colds or cancer, but we got zombies instead. It spread all over the world and infected everyone. This does not mean everyone turned into a zombie, just that they were now carriers of the virus. You didn't become a zombie until you died, kickstarting the cells into gear and you basically getting reprogrammed to do nothing but eat and infect.

It is shown that, a single zombie is qui9te e3asy to take down. However, a horde of them will start being able to use tactics. It gets harder to take them down, the more of them there are.

Georgia herself grew up with the KA virus. She has what is known as a reservoir condition, meaning that she has the live virus somewhere inside her. In her particular case, it's within her eyes. They are dilated constantly and she needs sunglasses to help protect her from the light which can cause permanent damage. She is often bullied into taking her glasses off for various exams and when she was younger, people would either make fun of her or try and steal her glasses. Shaun would usually do his best to help but there isn't much that can be done when it's more than schoolyard bullying, especially when the government is involved.

As for how it affected her in other ways, she grew up in a culture of fear. Although her parents did things like take her and her brother eating outdoors and sent them to public schools, there's still a part of her that is affected by the general culture, despite what she may admit. As well as carrying the MP3 recorder she often uses, she often carries a gun, knows the exit routes for most indoor locations she's in and isn't hugely comfortable within crowds. She grew up in an internet based culture as well, so while that doesn't mean she can fix your computer, it does mean she knows the basics without blinking.

As for how the virus may affect the game, Georgia is going to be coming in right before her brother shoots her in Feed. She's going to be sick with the infection and while she is going to be able to fight it off, there's going to be a point where she's dangerous to others.

She and Shaun are each other's everything. They trust and depend on each other, they believe in each other and they have each other's back. She probably would not be able the manage the site on her own without him to temper her down and he would (and has proven) that he would go crazy without her. Some say they have a co-dependent relationship but considering how they grew up, it's fairly understandable.

She is her most honest with Shaun, letting herself relax around him and trust that, if he's there, things are going to turn out relatively okay. She's still herself, of course, but she's also more willing to crack a joke here and there and little things like that when he's around.

As for Buffy, she's more inclined to look at that as a working relationship rather than a friendship. Although that doesn't mean she sees Buffy as *just* an employee of the site, she does have a detachment to her that she doesn't have with Shaun. However, Georgia did trust Buffy, not only with all of the tech and information that the site held but as a friend.

When Buffy betrayed them, Georgia was hurt and surprised but she tried to not let it affect hger. She didn't expect it at all, considering she thought she knew Buffy and that meant that Buffy wouldn't do anything like this to betray them.

Journalism isn't different exactly, more that it's evoked. Mainstream news isn't trusted anymore and now the public goes to blogs for their information. Because the big news companies let them down when the virus first hit, people are less inclined to go to them for their information.

Blogs compete with mainstream news to get the information out there and, for the most part, the blogs are winning. They're only just starting to get real notice by other media, in Feed but it's obvious the way things are going.

YOUR CHARACTER
NAME: Shaun Phillip Mason
JOURNAL: [personal profile] sunshineandshotguns
FANDOM: The Newsflesh trilogy by Mira Grant
AGE: 23
APPEARANCE: Shaun has brown eyes and short brown hair that's typically bleach-streaked from decontamination showers (though, since he hasn't been in the field in a while, that's beginning to fade). He has an ID tattoo on the inside of one wrist and a habit of wearing clothing that's good for running in. At any given time, he usually has multiple weapons on him (and multiple recording devices, phones, and other such technology -- but that won't last long, I'm sure).
CANON POINT: After Feed (the first book), before Deadline (the second).
MEMORY LOSS: Yes. Some scattered ones will remain (and his tattoo has basic identifications that will give him name/job if he doesn't remember them) but most of Shaun's memories will be gone.

WIKI/HISTORY: Shaun lives in a world where zombies are a day-to-day nuisance(/excitement/hazard/ratings opportunity -- but more on that last one later). The Rising happened in 2014, after two different man-made viruses -- one meant to cure cancer, one the common cold, and both successful -- combined to form Kellis-Amberlee, a virus that made the dead get up and walk, and infected everybody. They're still walking in 2040, but for the most part, civilization has adjusted and moved on. There are protocols and protections in place to minimize chance of infection -- blood tests to get in and out of just about anywhere, bleach showers and decontamination of everything after every encounter with a hazard, and a zone system with levels for just how dangerous the area is supposed to be. Zombification can happen one of three ways: death, coming into contact with live infection, or spontaneous amplification.

Since the Rising, many things have changed, but one noteworthy difference is the state of journalism and the news. While traditional news media still exists, blogging has grown and become steadily more trustworthy since the Rising, when bloggers caught on to what was happening and were figuring out how to avoid infection while traditional media was still avoiding the z-word. Bloggers are basically broken down into five categories: Newsies, who report straight news as unbiased as they can; Stewarts, who are the all-opinion flipside to the Newsies; Irwins, who poke dead and dangerous things with sticks for a living and the entertainment of the masses; Aunties, the flipside to the Irwins, who share tidbits from day-to-day life; and Fictionals, who, as the name implies, work in Fiction.

Shaun is an Irwin. His (adopted) sister, Georgia, is a Newsie. Their parents, who adopted both of them mostly as a ratings stunt, were two of the first well-known bloggers, and the two grew up in a world of ratings stunts and paparazzi (as much as still existed, because big crowds are hardly heard of now that someone might spontaneously amplify or drop dead of a heart attack and start eating members of the crowd). George fell in love with journalism and the idea of reporting the truth early on in life; and where goes George, goes Shaun's nation, so naturally he followed suit. Straight facts have never been his thing -- but poking a zombie with a stick, sometimes quite literally, is right up his alley.

Shaun and George, and their friend and fellow journalist (and tech support) Buffy, applied as a team to follow the 2040 presidential candidate, Senator Peter Ryman. Much to their shock, they got the posting. They opened their own news site (After the End Times), and set out on the campaign trail -- and that's when Shaun's life went from fairly normal for a post-Rising blogger to something much weirder and much harder. As several outbreaks started happening around the campaign and the Senator's family, Shaun and Georgia got deeper and deeper involved in what slowly started to look more and more like sabotage -- especially with Buffy's death, and the revelation that she had been working as a spy for the bad guys, before realizing just how dangerous they were.

They continued to do their best to uncover the people behind the acts, and finally came to the discovery that the former competition, now the Senator's running mate, was behind the conspiracy, as well as members of the Center for Disease Control, a powerful player in the post-Rising world. Unfortunately, once they had enough evidence to bring what they've discovered to the Senator, Tate -- the man behind the acts -- and the rest of the people behind him realized they're on to them. They set their trailers to blow up, and when they were running for the safety of their van, shot a dart full of the live KA virus at them. Shaun was the intended target, but the dart hit Georgia instead.

George started to amplify once they got inside the van. Shaun sent Rick, the newest member of their team, off with the information they had collected and instructed him to get far away; then he waited as George wrote a final blog post, explaining everything they had uncovered, and shot her to keep her from amplifying fully. Shaun had the start of a breakdown, put the rest on hold for later when a friend on the Senator's security team came to let him out of the van, and went to expose the man who was responsible for his sister's death.

After that, Shaun retired, no longer wanting to have anything to do with the field when George wasn't there to be his backup and yell at him for not wearing the proper armor. He's put all his energy into running the administrative bits of After the End Times, and continued the breakdown that started as soon as he shot Georgia, going slowly crazy and hearing her voice in his head, more and more often each day that passes.

PERSONALITY: To start with, it's probably easiest to divide Shaun's personality into two sections: before Georgia's death, and after he became an only child. Aspects of both are going to surface, due to not being entirely able to remember what he's in mourning for (though some remnant of 'I just lost something' is likely to remain) (and also due to having Georgia there even if he doesn't remember clearly who she is, since there is one in the game already).

Shaun with Georgia is laid-back with everything outside of the field and intensely excited for everything in it. He charges into danger without a second thought or the proper armor -- though never, ever without a lot of weaponry and remembering the basic rules of zombie safety. He generally gives the impression of being cheerful and going with the flow, and for the most part, this is pretty accurate. When he does get pissed off about something, though, he has a hell of a temper, and he's not afraid to let it show. Even if that might not always be a smart idea at the time (such as when government officials that have them at gunpoint make Georgia take off the sunglasses that protect her damaged eyes). He loves any kind of thrill, but he's smarter about things than people give him credit for. Really, he's smarter in general than people give him credit for; Shaun may not be book-smart, and he may appear to be lacking in common sense when he does things like go into the field in just a Kevlar vest (as opposed to the goggles and complete coverage most people favor), but he knows what he's doing. He's very good at risk assessment, at finding the exits, and especially at how to play the publicity games -- all of which come in handy in his line of work.

Shaun after Georgia's death is a lot more abrasive, and can be a jerk a lot of them time without entirely realizing it -- and without caring most of the time even when he knows it. Part of that is grief, but a lot of it is losing the reason he had for keeping his cool -- George had an easier temper to trigger and less patience for dealing with people, so Shaun was always the cheerful, social one because it made things easier on her. It diverted attention to him, and it didn't hurt that the 'twins with opposite personalities' thing (they always said they were twins because it was easier, being only about six weeks apart, than explaining everything) is a classic combination and would draw people in. The more of a goof-off Shaun seemed to be, the more serious (and therefore trustworthy as a Newsie) Georgia looked in comparison. Without her, and without being on camera, Shaun lost a lot of his will to keep up appearances.

He also lost a lot of the desire to go into the field, just because 'in the field' meant 'in front of the cameras and having to play the Irwin personality up' -- but not the urge to jump into dangerous things. After George, Shaun developed a death wish -- whereas before they both realized he'd probably die first just by virtue of the job he did and the way he approached danger, after her, he stopped caring. The only reason he lasted as long as he did was the feeling that something wasn't right with the circumstances of her death, and the determination that the people behind her death would pay.

Shaun after Georgia's death is also crazy -- literally so. He hears George in his head, and talks back to her. (Later on in the timeline, when he gets particularly stressed and/or upset, he sees her as well, but at this point in time that hasn't happened, and may not ever happen depending on how things go in-game.) Despite not entirely remembering the traumatic circumstances that caused him to start hearing a voice in his head, or who she is (and neither will she, obviously), Shaun will still get comments from George, and most likely still forget to not answer her out loud.

As you can tell from everything up to this point: Shaun's sister is a big part of his life. Their relationship borders on unhealthy and co-dependent, especially by pre-Rising standards. Georgia was everything to Shaun: best friend, boss/coworker, backup, voice of reason. George is the only girl he's ever loved, and he loves her in every sense of the word: she is his family, friend, and lover -- something he doesn't see as a big deal, since they're not blood relations, but he knows well enough that other people wouldn't agree, so they don't talk about it. She is the reason he's a journalist, because he'd probably have happily chosen a different career without her. But George wanted to be a Newsie, and that's just how things go: George starts something, Shaun follows her, because he can't imagine doing anything else. He trusts her, he needs her, he loves her, and yes, he still does, even after she's dead. Hence the crazy.

There is one thing Shaun didn't follow George on, but lead her through, and that's the realization that their parents consider them ratings tools more than anything else. He figured it out early, and he got over it early as well, taking it as a part of life rather than something to be constantly upset over. Though the Masons might have loved them in their own way, they were damaged by the death of their biological son before adopting the two of them, and their career filled that gap in their lives much more than Shaun and Georgia did. Shaun loves them a little almost despite himself, but there's not much fondness there, and there hasn't been since they were little. It's part of why he wanted the presidential campaign and their own site so badly -- because then they could start making enough to move out of their parent's house. Despite the issues he has with the Masons, though, he doesn't care much about finding out about his birth family. He has Georgia: she's all the family he needs.

In large part because of this co-dependance -- the two of them formed their own unit and they didn't need anyone else -- there's not many people Shaun is close to besides his sister. Buffy Messionier, the third admin of their site and their tech person, was his closest friend besides George, and they were all good friends, but she was nowhere near as close to him as George ever was. She was a constant in their lives, though, their weird, awesome, writer, tech-geek friend; and Shaun misses her, and feels a little guilty because she would never have been on the campaign trail without them. Now that he's out of his parent's house and the girls are both gone, Shaun has their site staff, but he's not particularly close to any of them, and occasionally, between fits of violence and talking to the voice in his head, he even manages to scare them.

POWERS: No powers, but Shaun does carry with him the KA virus which is prone to, y'know, making zombies of people. (Shaun is immune to contagions [but doesn't know it at this point in time], so he personally may not turn on death either -- the canon never said for certain.) This should possibly be limited like a power would, to keep people from spontaneously amplifying the moment he hits the world.

RP SAMPLE: [As I don't have anything of a decent length on hand, I hope this is acceptable?]

"Fuck," is the first thing out of Shaun's mouth once the pulling sensation subsides and he can find the ability to speak again. And then he almost groans before thinking better of it, because just saying that much makes it feel like his head is splitting in two.

Migraine floats through his brain as an uncertain suggestion, before he dismisses it. Migraines don't cause that kind of pulling/stretching/overall weird sensation, he'd have known if it did. He's not sure how he'd know, come to think of it, but he's pretty sure he would.

He swears again, more quietly this time, when his vision starts to clear and he notices the people watching him. He frowns, crossing his arms and straightening up, even though it makes his head worse. He's not sure who they are or where he is, but he doesn't really appreciate being watched like some show dog about to do tricks.

Unless they're going to give him aspirin. Then he might be more amenable to being watched however they damn well please.

"Any chance of some painkillers?" he asks as one of them steps forward, flashing a grin as best he can and trying not to wince visibly.

YOUR CHARACTER
NAME: Wade Winston Wilson (a.k.a. Deadpool)
JOURNAL: [personal profile] ishotyouuu
FANDOM: Deadpool
AGE: Not specified in canon, but looks to be in his early to mid-thirties.
APPEARANCE: Masked and unmasked.

Wade stands tall, at about 6’4” or so. At first glance, his body seems at the peak of physical health. It’d be understandable if you thought there was a fine specimen of a man underneath all of that spandex and leather, and you’d be partially right. Without the mask, however, Wade looks like someone who’s been dragged facefirst down the asphalt road of life-- quite literally, in fact. Years of living with a genetically enhanced strain of cancer doesn’t exactly play nice with the complexion, giving him an appearance very similar to one in advanced stages of leprosy. Some superheroes wear masks to hide their identities. Wade wears his (as well as a holographic device to hide his appearance) in order to prevent people from running away screaming/vomiting copiously in his presence. Stuff like doesn’t really do much for the ego.
CANON POINT: Some time after the Cable & Deadpool arc.
MEMORY LOSS: Yes. Nearly all of Wade’s memories will be eradicated upon his arrival, including his name and everything else about himself. He’ll still retain his instincts and skills from his time as a mercenary, but don’t expect him to have any idea how the hell he knows all that stuff. Eventually he’ll regain his memories as the game progesses, but for now he’s more or less a blank slate.

WIKI/HISTORY: Here! The CliffsNotes and headcanon version is below:

Deadpool was born with the rather alliterative name of Wade Wilson. His mother died of cancer when he was eleven years old. The loss of his mother at such a young age left Wade emotionally stunted and resentful of his father, a stern military man who tried to raise the boy as best he could under the circumstances. Despite all of this, Wade followed in his father's footsteps and joined the army early on in his life. Perhaps the rigid, strict lifestyle of a soldier didn’t sit well with him, or maybe he just liked the idea of killing people a little too much. Whatever the reason, he became a mercenary for hire after his stint in the armed forces. It was a good job that paid well-- there was no shortage of people who wanted someone shuffled off the mortal coil-- and it seemed as though he had found his niche in the world.

Then the big “C” sauntered into his life without warning and without welcome, as cancer is wont to do.

Suddenly things weren’t so simple anymore. Even with the most aggressive treatments money could buy, Wade was losing the battle for his life by the second. It was at the moment when he was beginning to accept his fate that he heard about Weapon X, an experimental program that attempted to turn people into genetically enhanced supersoldiers. Wade was reluctant at first, but when the geneticists at the program told him that there was a chance he could be cured of his cancer, he signed up.

In hindsight, they weren’t totally untruthful.

The good news was that Wade’s genetic enhancement was-- after a false start-- a success, granting him a healing factor far more advanced than that of a normal human. The bad news was that this selfsame healing factor also fused with and accelerated the growth of his cancer, spreading it throughout his entire body. Wade was left horribly disfigured and with severe psychological damage, rendering him near-catatonic. He had been deemed a failure by the Weapon X program and sent to a high-security facility with other failed genetic experiments, but eventually managed to regain enough mental capacity to escape. He took the name “Deadpool” after the name of a betting game the other inmates played to find out who would survive the ordeal and who would not. Wade had been marked for death, and so his new name was a testament to the irony of his having survived. With a new life and a new name, Deadpool resumed his career as a mercenary, and became one of the most infamous assassins the world has ever known-- or so he likes to think. He always had a thing for self-exaggeration.

PERSONALITY: Being criminally insane in the membrane does give you some interesting personality quirks. There’s a reason one of Wade’s monikers is “Merc With a Mouth”-- he seems to be physically unable to shut the hell up. A master of rhetoric, he’s quick to sling taunts and witty comebacks in vast quantities (and sometimes in several different languages), even at the risk of his own safety. He has a “devil-may-care” attitude about the world around him, and seems to have little regard for anything except for where his next check is coming from. Because of this, he has very few friends, and even thinks of friendship as a “completely bogus concept”.

Despite his bravado, however, there is some compassion and kindness in that black little heart of his. (Somewhere. Deep down. Real deep. It’s there, okay? Trust me on this.) He’s fiercely loyal to the friends he does have, and even though he might be cold toward them at times or threaten them with severe bodily harm, he can be very protective of them in his own way. He gets lonely and depressed quite easily, and though he might not show it, is secretly hurt by the idea that quite a lot of people-- superhero and civilian alike-- hate him and want him brought to justice and/or dead. In the deepest part of him, he yearns to be a hero-- someone that people can look up to, admire, and even love. You don’t see a lot of kids running around in Deadpool costumes for Halloween, after all. Unfortunately, he finds acts of heroism difficult, unprofitable, and at times a waste of his talents-- being on the side of Good tends to conflict with the whole “killing people” thing, and seeing as he’s quite literally made a career out of it... Still, despite being essentially pigeonholed into anti-hero status, he does have a few codes by which he lives. One of those includes harming children. Not only does he forbid himself to kill a child-- even if killing said child would save countless lives in the long run-- but he’s also very intolerant of those who would do so. It’s not that he has any real love for kids (or so he claims) but from an assassin’s standpoint, they’re totally off-limits.

Wade has a habit of talking to himself, though it’s not really as much to himself as it is to those little yellow boxes of his. They’re pretty much around him constantly. He also has a rather annoying penchant for breaking the fourth wall, which most of his comrades have learned to ignore or chalk it up to yet another example of his crazy. His insanity has oftentimes been more of a hinder than a help, but it’s also gotten him out of a great many tough scrapes due to his potential to be totally unpredictable, and if there’s one thing he’s gotten very good at, it’s flying by the seat of his pants.

POWERS: Wade’s healing factor was implanted into him genetically, and as a result he can withstand any sort of wound or trauma without dying. Amputated limbs can be grown back, but it takes some time and is a rather unpleasant experience, so he usually opts to reattach the limb that was cut off. Brain damage also takes time to heal depending on the severity, and generally tends to leave him unconscious for a half an hour or more. Because of his brain cells being in a constant state of death and rebirth, he is virtually immune to any sort of telepathy or mind control. Alcohol and tranquilizers seem to have very little effect on him-- it takes a good amount of effort for him to get drunk or drugged. Likewise, he is impervious to all but the most potent of poisons. His accelerated healing has also increased his lifespan beyond that of a normal human, but to what extent is as yet unknown to him. (Note: Upon arriving at Striatum, his abilities will be severely hampered. He will now be unable to grow back his limbs, reattaching limbs takes a lot longer, and he is susceptible to mental invasion. He can also get drunk more easily, and it takes a lot less to drug him. He’s still pretty damn hard to kill, but anything that completely incapacitates him-- such as having his body torn completely apart, dissolved in acid, or suffering severe damage to internal organs that would instantly kill a normal person-- will render him technically “dead”.)

As for more mundane powers, Wade is essentially a jack-of-all-trades. Along with superior skill in artillery and close-ranged weapons, he is extraordinarily talented in hand-to-hand combat, holding his own against adversaries who vastly surpass him in speed and strength and even defeating them on more than a few occasions. He’s also a master of improvisation, capable of turning virtually anything he touches into a weapon, shield or distraction. His bullet-train of trash talk never stops, even when he’s at his physical limit, and has even succeeded in saving his life numerous times. Many people he’s fought against have attested that his mouth is the deadliest weapon in his arsenal-- quite ironic, considering it’s his lack of tact that usually gets him in trouble in the first place. Not that he minds it, of course. Fighting is basically like a drug to him. He lives for the thrill of battle and the satisfaction of adding one more win to his ever-growing collection (not to mention more money in the bank). Years of living with an accelerated healing factor have given him not only an increased tolerance to pain, but in some cases, an almost masochistic high from it. It has also made him quite reckless, a trait that probably won’t be dampened even if, say, he happened to lose some of that healing factor...

NAME: Hamato Michaelangelo
JOURNAL: michaeljangelo
FANDOM: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Volume 1 (Mirage)
AGE: 17
APPEARANCE: He is a 4' 113/4" tall anthropomorphic mutant turtle.
CANON POINT: Post "City at War."
MEMORY LOSS: None.

WIKI: Link 1 & Link 2

PERSONALITY:

Mike is the youngest of four brothers, which means that his self perception doesn't revolve around the attributes he has, but rather the ones he doesn't. He's not book smart like his older brother Donatello. He's not disciplined like his other older brother Leonardo. And he's not as headstrong as his other older brother Raphael. He's...just Mike. The slacker. The prankster. The baby. The one who gets coddled.

In actuality what Mike is, is the most human of the turtles, and that's not just because of his bright baby-blue eyes. He's a kind and gentle soul who has a soft spot for small children and animals. On more than one occasion he's attempted to bring strays home to keep as pets. To date all but one such request has all been denied.

Mike is an avid storyteller who gets most of his inspiration from comic books, science fiction novels, and popular culture. Someday he's going to flesh out one of his many unfinished short stories into a novel.
Someday.

His creativity isn't limited to words, Mike's also expresses himself in the kitchen. Most, if not all, of the cooking for the family is done by Mike, who considers himself to be quite the foodie. Every day is Iron Chef day when you're raised in a house with a cash budget of zero.

Mike is often relegated to the role of comic relief in his family. He is more than willing to take the fall, or be the butt of a joke, it it brings a smile to the faces of those he loves. He sees it as his personal mission to keep his family happy. It's because of this that he tends to be overly introspective with his own wants and desires, opting instead to put the happiness and needs of those around him before himself.

Mike is a formidable opponent to fight against, not because of his discipline or form, but because of his seemingly endless energy. He's a natural athlete who tends to skate by on his gifts, rather than expend a whole lot of effort with practice.

I'll be bringing Mike in from after the City at War plotline, where he's living away from his family for the very first time, a move that is surprisingly selfish for Mike. Normally he'd defer to the whims of the family at large, but with Don and Splinter staying in Western Mass, and Leo and Raph being...well Leo and Raph, the fact that Mike has decided to stay with April and Casey to aid in the care of their daughter Shadow is kind of unlike him...but in a good making steps towards being who I am, and not a collection of what I'm nots.

POWERS:

Michaelangelo is a highly trained ninja, which means he excels at hand to hand combat; close combat; ranged attacks with projectiles; stealth; free-running; slight of hand; impersonations; weapons training including but not limited to: katana, bo-staff, sai, nunchuku, manrikigusari, knives etc.

If you need it to flip out of a shadow to kill someone, chances are good he's had a nominal amount of training in it.

He is also a mutant turtle which comes with its own sets of benefits: natural body armor which affords a resistance to bullets; the ability to retract his head mostly into his shell; polythermic metabolism, ability to jump 15 feet straight up; very adept at swimming and due to metabolic rate can go longer with oxygen; and enhanced strength. Mike can easily lift and carry 160 pounds, and deadlift close to 300.

RP SAMPLE:
(This third person example is set further back in Mike's timeline than he'll be coming in from, but I really liked how it came out so I'm using it here. If you'd prefer something else, just ask!)

"It'll be there," he said to himself as he ran at a breakneck pace across the rooftops of the West Side. His silent footfalls landing in time to the rhythm of his heart. Every step closer to 11th and Bleeker served to raise his spirits just that much more.

He'd been stupid to go to The Lair. Of course that wouldn't be there. He shouldn't have been surprised that he was unable to find even the slightest trace of his family in those forgotten subterranean rooms buried deep beneath 49th Street. Not after the Mouser Attack. And certainly not after whatever those things were that kidnapped Master Splinter. In the back of Mike's mind there's a brief flash of the memory of his Master, his Father, floating motionless in a tank that causes a chill to run down his spine.

Mike shakes his head to free himself from the mental image. "It's got to be there." He continues to run.

No it was a stupid waste of time, going to their now long since abandoned home. Mike imagines Donatello rolling his eyes when he hears the story. Leonardo will get that look he always gets right before he unleashes yet another of his, "You should have known better," lectures. Raphael? He'll just laugh. Maybe level a punch at Mike's shoulder right before he sarcastically calls the youngest brother a "Rocket Scientist."

"It's totally going to be there," he says with his wide beaming smile returning.

Splinter will be there too, of course. Expression impassive save for the tell of his nervously twitching tail. Waiting for the baby of the family to return. Mike already knows what he'll do when he sees his father. He'll bow low and respectful, just like he was taught. Then after an approving nod, Splinter's smile will appear and Mike will rush in for a hug. Splinter hugs are the best hugs. They are warm, smell of incense and tea, and remind him of when the old rat would comfort him until night terrors that used to plague him as a kid would subside.

He looks up and can just see the beginning of the treetops of the playground on Bleeker Street and laughs. There's a renewed spring to his step and he runs faster than he ever has before. Just one more rooftop and he'll be home. Just one more building and he'll see his family. He cranes his neck to see the sign. The comforting sign that reads: The Magnolia Bakery.

...

No.
NO!
He stops quick, his momentum nearly throwing him off the edge of the roof.
No. No, that sign is supposed to read "Second Time Around." There's no bakery there. There's an antique store. The one April got after her father had a stroke.

"No. NO this isn't right. That's not supposed to be there!
he can't stop himself from shouting just before his legs buckle and he falls to his knees on the tarpaper roof.

He is alone.
For the first time ever in his life, he is alone.
The weight of this realization is nearly too much to bear, and now the most human of the brothers green howls like the injured animal he is.
